Pricing Transparency

We act for both claimants (individuals) and respondents (corporates) on wrongful and unfair dismissal Employment Tribunal matters, as well as all other types of employment-related dispute. Our fees, which depend on a number of factors, range from approximately £30,000 to £50,000 with an average cost of £40,000. These prices exclude VAT, which is chargeable at 20%. This range is based on our hourly rates which are typically in the region of £350 per hour.

Factors which can increase the costs are claims involving complex areas of law such as discrimination, whistleblowing, equal pay or TUPE, and claims involving multiple claimants and/or respondents or interim hearings and applications.

Key Stages

The key aspects of an Employment Tribunal matter are set out below – this is only an indication so some may not be applicable to you which is likely to result in a reduction of our fees:

•           Drafting your claim or responding to a claim;

•           Managing correspondence and negotiations;

•           Preparing documents for the Tribunal;

•           Instructing experts and other lawyers;

•           Attending hearings; and

•           Representing you at hearings.

There are other costs which are not included in our range and which you will be required to cover – these include barristers fees, which on a typical case would be in the region of £4,000 (plus VAT). Factors which would increase the barrister’s fees include those matters set out above.

Timescales

The time that it takes from taking your initial instructions to the final resolution of your matter depends largely on the stage at which your case is resolved. If a settlement is reached during pre-claim conciliation, your case is likely to take 2 to 6 weeks. If your claim proceeds to a Final Hearing, your case is likely to take 12 to 18 months. This is just an estimate and we will of course be able to give you a more accurate timescale once we have more information and as the matter progresses.

Please note that the Tribunal process is generally delayed as a result of disruption arising from the coronavirus pandemic. Cases are therefore taking longer than usual to come to a final hearing, and the length of the delay varies depending on the particular Tribunal.
